Mazda2 Proves it Can Tackle Horizontal Run on Wall of Death

What is the Demon Drome Wall of Death, you may ask? Well, it's a wooden track where the walls are completely vertical, and it's the oldest "Wall of Death" in existence, as it was first built in 1927. This wall is often frequented by motorcyclists, but a new kind of vehicle recently tackled the wall: the 2012 Mazda2 subcompact sedan. Mazda recently released a promotional video to document the feat, and we certainly recommend viewing it online. It's a pretty amazing experience to see the new Mazda2 drive perpendicularly.

Mazda RX-8 Given Another Extension in Japan

The Mazda RX-8 is a sporty car that's built for driving enthusiasts. Featuring a lightweight rotary engine that sets it apart from its competition, the Mazda RX-8 has been seen in very several different forms throughout its model run, and now the production of the special "final edition" Mazda RX-8 Spirit R model has been again extended by a thousand units due to high demand.

Mazda CX-5 Says Hello, CX-7 Says Goodbye

Here at Tracy Mazda we've spoken a lot about the new 2013 Mazda CX-5 crossover, and honestly, it's because we're so impressed by this sleek vehicle! If you haven't read our previous blog posts, perhaps you've seen the CX-5 advertised along with Dr. Suess' The Lorax movie. While we're certainly glad to have the CX-5, we were surprised to hear that it would be replacing one of our favorite current crossover models, the 2012 Mazda CX-7. It seems these vehicles are simply too similar to both be in the brand's line-up, so the…

Mazda Focuses on the Golden Age of Design- Today

What decade would you consider the 'Golden Age' of auto design? Perhaps your mind goes straight to the muscle cars of the '50s and '60s, or, perhaps you think of the iconic roadster automobiles available earlier in 20th Century. If you ask Derek Jenkins, Design Boss for Mazda North America, he will politely disagree. He explicates, "A lot of people would argue this, but we're living in the Golden Age of car design right now."1

Mazda and the Lorax: Perfect Environmental Partners

You might be reading the title and wondering, "What the heck is a Lorax?" Perhaps you'll want to Google Dr. Suess' The Lorax, which will hit theatres March 2, 2012. The Lorax (character) is a forest guardian who's dedicated to protecting the natural world for as long as possible, so it makes sense that he would give Mazda the "Truffula Seal of Approval" for being one of the greenest automakers around. A new set of commercials highlight the film and auto brand's partnership, in which a new Mazda CX-5 is seen driving through the "Truffula Valley" and…

2013 Mazda CX-5 to Feature Best-In-Class EPA Ratings

Mazda has officially released fuel economy ratings for its 2013 Mazda CX-5, and, as expected, the new crossover has achieved the best-in-class distinction due to these ratings. The FWD, 6-speed manual vehicle is rated at 26 mpg in the city and 35 mpg on the highway due to the vehicle's inclusion of a new Mazda SkyActiv 2.0-liter inline, four-cylinder engine. Mazda even claims the new CX-5 has the best fuel economy ratings of any crossover SUV on the American market.

Mazda Will Use a Diesel Engine by 2013

Mazda has announced its intention to bring a diesel engine to the United States by the year 2013, specifically, as Mazda spokesman Jeremy Barnes explains, "It'll be here between 15 and 18 months behind the launch of the Skyactiv-G gasoline engine in the Mazda 3."1 This means that the new diesel engine will appear in the early half of 2013, due to the fact that the Skyactiv-G 3 appeared in showrooms across the United States in October 2011.

Mazda Wins. . . Again.

The races are over, and the winners have been announced: Mazda takes both the 2011 American Le Mans Series LMP1 and Continental Tire Challenge Street Turner manufacturers championships! (And, it would have been three championships-provided Mazda been three-tenths of a second faster at the Rolex Grand-Am Championship.) Mazda has also crowned three of four 2011 MAZDASPEED Motorsports Development Ladder Champions, including two steps of the Mazda Road to Indy. These wins were achieved by: Tristan Vautier (the Star Mazda Championship Presented by Goodyear), Petri Suvanto (the Copper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda), and Mike Cooper (the SCCA Pro Racing…

Mazda Plants Roots in Mexico

Ah, Mexico: the land of margaritas and sunshine. At least that's what comes to mind for some of us here at Tracy Mazda.  When Mazda execs think of Mexico, however, they think of money and manufacturing. The Japanese automaker and Sumitomo Corporation have teamed up to form the new Mazda Motor Manufacturing de Mexico S.A. de C.V. Plant workers will build new 2014 versions of the Mazda2 and Mazda3 models for South American markets. The factory will be located in Salamanca, Guanajuato, and the cars will be the same as the Mazda Axela and Mazda Demio models…
