The 2013 North American International Auto Show has come and gone, but the awards that were given out will live on. Take, for example, the "Most Earth-Friendly Truck of the Year" award given to Mazda by Earth, Wind, & and Power Media. Specifically, the new Mazda CX-5 was chosen for the award.

Auto brands know that building lighter cars impresses choosy drivers. After all, these vehicles are more fuel-efficient and, as a result, more aerodynamic. However, it's quite a difficult task to make today's vehicle weigh less with all the features that are currently available. It's rather unique to have a model today that's lighter than its predecessor. In fact, some vehicles today are 50 percent heavier than their equivalents twenty years ago. But, no worries. Mazda is here to save the day!

When features do you desire in a new automobile? Though technology and safety features may be at the top of your list, it's also a smart idea to consider a vehicle's reliability. In What Car magazine's annual reliability survey of more than 50,000 cars, the British magazine chose the Mazda MX-5 Miata as the most reliable car available to British drivers.

The last Mazda6 may represent the last of U.S.-produced Mazda models, as it rolled of the Flat Rock, MI production line last Friday, but a new Mazda6 will be coming very soon- though it will be produced elsewhere.

Though the Mazda MX-5 Miata won't receive a complete makeover until the 2014 model year, but it is getting some upgrades for 2013. (In some countries, at least!). Mazda showed off the edited vehicle recently (known as the Mazda Roadster in the Japanese market, but is referred to as  the MX-5 Miata in other global markets). Here are some of the changes for the 2013 model year, though it's unclear if these changes will make their way to the U.S.

Do you remember the 1970s? If so, you might remember the iconic television series that went by the name of The Six Million Dollar Man. This show was a science fiction one that followed the life and actions of a former astronaut with bionic implants who worked for a fictitious branch of the government. Mazda has taken a cue from the beloved TV spot. Like this show reimagined the astronaut's life, Mazda has reimagined the crossover SUV with its 2013 Mazda CX-5, a vehicle that's like no other crossover on the market.

The new Mazda CX-5 goes on sale this month, and it has a very attractive entry price of $20,695 (not including a destination fee of $795) for the base model. This new Mazda will challenge the likes of the 2012 Ford Escape, Hyundai Tucson, and the 2012 Kia Sportage, and its priced right in the middle of this lineup.
