2017 Mazda CX-9 SideIf you’ve been waiting for an official word on its excellence before driving home the 2016 Mazda CX-9, the Texas Auto Writers Association has weighed in. Already popular among our Manteca and Stockton, CA drivers, we’re excited to announce that the CX-9 was named the Full-Size CUV Winner at the 26th Annual Texas Truck Rodeo. Here’s what the Texas Auto Writers Association President, Nic Phillips, had to say about the award:

Mazda’s all-new CX-9 earned class-leading marks from our judges particularly in exterior styling, premium interior finishes, the performance of the new SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T powertrain and overall personal appeal in the highly competitive full-size CUV category.”

Building a Leader

Each new Mazda is designed, engineered, and honed toward perfection, and it’s always nice when an organization as important as the Texas Auto Writers Association recognizes it. Highlights like these give the CX-9 an advantage in its increasingly competitive class:

  • Power: Under the hood of the CX-9 is a 250-hp SKYACTIV®-G 2.5T turbocharged four-cylinder engine with 310 lb.-ft. of torque, able to tow up to 3,500 pounds.
  • Seating: With seating for up to seven passengers, tri-zone climate control, and a spacious cabin, the CX-9 has room for family and friends.
  • Technology: A state-of-the-art SUV, the CX-9 includes a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system for MAZDA CONNECT®, Bluetooth phone and audio, rearview camera system, and more.

With Sport, Touring, Grand Touring, and Signature models available and your choice of front- or all-wheel drive, we think there’s a 2016 Mazda CX-9 for each of our Lanthrop and Turlock drivers. Mazda’s crossover has been in production for a decade now, transforming its segment in performance, technology, and style.

“Mazda’s CX-9 is a combination of sleek style with exciting, driver rewarding dynamics and family efficiency which makes for an award winning package, one that carried the CX-9 to be our runner-up for the Overall CUV of Texas award,” Phillips added.

The Mazda CX-9 was also named to the shortlist for the 2017 World Car of the Year. That sounds worthy of a test drive, doesn’t it?
