A Peek at the Upcoming 2017 Mazda Vehicles
The arrival of the 2017 Mazda lineup has drivers in search of efficient performance, athletic styling, and first-rate features on pins and needles. With the Mazda3, Mazda6, and CX-3 already in MY17, three vehicles remain to be seen: CX-5 SUV, CX-9 SUV, and MX-5 Miata Roadster. Equipped with SKYACTIV®-G engines, clever handling technologies, and premium features, each of these upcoming models will surely take hashiru yorokobi, or “joy of driving”, to new heights.
2017 Mazda CX-5
Slated for arrival in spring, the 2017 Mazda CX-5 SUV promises sportier, more sophisticated accents, coupled with 155- to 184-hp SKYACTIV®-G engines. The cabin houses a number of exciting features, such as the MAZDA CONNECT® Infotainment System, an optional BOSE sound system, and an optional Active Driving Display. On the road, the CX-5 relies on new SKYACTIV-VEHICLE DYNAMICS with G-Vectoring Control for razor-sharp cornering, and available i-ACTIV AWD® for intelligent torque allocation in any condition.
2017 Mazda CX-9
In the full-size SUV segment, the seven-passenger Mazda CX-9 has always been a standout. The CX-9 was redesigned in late 2016, and most of those changes will carry over into 2017, including its fresh, lightweight body design. The 250-hp SKYACTIV®-G 2.5L turbocharged 4-cylinder engine, which replaced the previous V6 engine, remains on board. Exteriorly, the 2017 Mazda CX-9 boasts 18-inch aluminum wheels and LED headlamps and taillamps, while the cabin leaves room for a leather-wrapped steering wheel and an optional 8-inch display.
2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata
The most popular roadster of all time will return for 2017, sporting its standard 155-hp 2.0L I-4 engine. Fuel ratings measure in at an EPA-estimated 26 mpg city/35 mpg highway, making the Miata ideal for drivers looking to cruise without frequent trips to the gas pump. Perhaps the most notable change comes in the form of a new variation: 2017 MX-5 Miata RF. The RF, or “Retractable Fastback”, will sport a new power-folding roof with flying buttresses, which takes up as much space as the standard manual soft-top – meaning zero reduction in trunk space.
