2017 Mazda3 4 Door RedThe 2017 Mazda3 and 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata both managed to earn 2017 10Best Awards from Tracy Mazda. These industry-leading vehicles have impressed reviewers in every previous iteration, and the newest lineup is taking steps forward instead of standing still. Let’s find out how they continue to lead the pack.

The Car and Driver 10Best

The 10Best Awards list is drawn up each year after extensive test-driving of the latest vehicles. With 40 makes and over 400 new vehicle models on sale, that made earning a place harder than ever, but Mazda managed to score two.

That’s a feat made by no other manufacturer this year, and it was achieved by two 10Best regulars. The Mazda3 earned its fourth-consecutive award and seventh in total – pretty impressive when you remember it was first introduced in only 2004. The MX-5 has extended its back-to-back streak, having now racked up 15 10Best Awards.

The 2017 Mazda3

Car and Driver responded ecstatically to the performance of the 2017 Mazda3, noting that it “responds to fingertip control”. Indeed, control is remarkably intuitive: “just thinking about pushing the shifter into first gear is seemingly sufficient to get the job done.”

Available as either a sedan or hatchback, the Mazda3’s drive is due to G-Vectoring control and two sophisticated SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY engines, but, as Car and Driver noted, “in this car, no single element overwhelms its essential character.” Performance is complemented by a spacious, well-fitted interior and state of the art safety technologies.

The 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata

The 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata was dubbed “a manifesto of car enthusiasm.” Once again, the ride was a key selling-point: “Every brake application, throttle blip, snap downshift, and slalom toward the apex is an invocation of joy.”

Near-perfect balance and a near-weightless drive is achieved with aluminum and ultra-high tensile steel construction, and a potent SKYACTIV®-G 2.0L engine really grants some get-up-and-go. You can even add the fastest retractable hard top in the industry, which opens in just 12.5 seconds. Small wonder the Miata also earned the 2016 World Car of the Year Award at the World Car Awards.
